My first attempt at this pub, some six years ago, was a disaster, walking the two miles from Southampton Central train Station only to find the place closed for staff holidays.
Better luck this time and a more sensible nine minute train ride to Woolston found it thankfully open.
The interior is as Quinno describes with six handpumps offering Howling Hops Wait For Me, Twisted Oak Fallen Tree, Stardust Train Of Gold , Triple fff Black Velvet, Flowerpots Pots Kolsch and Electric Bear There's Wally. Ten wall mounted keg taps with beers from top brewers.
It's worth the trip for this place, unfortunately the nearby pubs have little to offer.

As described by others, this micro is definitely one of the better bets this side of the Itchen, well worth the walk from the City centre. The pizzas were good value, but of course it’s the beer that really sets it apart. We were a bit concerned that it brands itself as a ‘craft ale bar’, but that does it a disservice as the real ale is very much present and well up to the mark. My Citra Romance from New Bristol Brewery, Chocolate Orange Porter from Dorking, Hindmarsh IPA and Dark and Perilous Nights stout from Crackerjack were all on offer, all good though it made for a heavy night. I’ll definitely be back.

Olaf's Tun
One of Soton CAMRA's micropub favourites. Shuddered slightly when I saw the word 'progressive' in the WhatPub description but inside is all perfectly neutral and no political omnicause being shoved into your face. Quite nicely done décor-wise and fairly cosy; padded benches and wood planking - so clearly an interior overhaul since the first review in 2017. Excellent pint as well given was the first out of the day’s treading, a Lakedown Sussex Pale (NBSS 4) from the six cask available alongside eight craftykegs. Started to fill-up fairly quickly and I was glad that I decided to get myself here first rather than last of the day. Whilst it’s a bit out of the way from the general crawl Soton area, I think it’s well-worth a bus out.
